The Romanian-American University is the most dynamic private university in Romania, a legal person of private law and public utility, part of the national system of education, founded in 1991, accredited by law in 2002, receiving the qualification “High confidence rating” from national commission for higher education, ARACIS, in 2015. The university mission is to offer high quality education and research, in an intellectually stimulating environment both for students and for the teaching staff.

The Romanian-American University offers excellent opportunities for connecting with companies and business, for collaborating in teaching and research with over 100 universities all over the world, and for international mobility for students and staff.

Mission

The mission of the Romanian-American University is education, teaching, scientific research and innovation, cultivating the values of universal science and culture in general.

​

Through its mission, the university aims to contribute to:

  • Promoting excellence in education, scientific research, innovation and technology transfer and professional, moral and social responsibility and creativity in areas of competence

  • Treasuring and promoting the values of national and universal culture and civilization

  • Defending the democratic university framework based on university autonomy and respect for the law, on respect for fundamental human rights and freedoms, in the rule of law

International institutional affiliations

The university is affiliated to international organizations: AACSB, ASSEBUS, CrossRef. The university has ongoing collaborations with over 100 universities from all continents.

 

 

TEACHING & STUDENTS

 

Faculty and staff

There are 170 faculty and 80 staff, involved in teaching and research, and supporting university activities.

Students

There are 3000 students enrolled at bachelor and master’s programmes, of which 10% receive annually university scholarship.

 

​

Schools

The university has 5 schools with Romanian and English taught programs:

- School of Computer Science for Business Management

- School of Domestic and International Business, Banking and Finance

- School of Management-Marketing

- School of European Economic Studies

- School of Domestic and International Tourism Economics

 

Additionally, there are 2 schools with Romanian taught programs:

- School of Law

- School of Physical Education, Sport and Kinesiotherapy

Courses and programs

There are 30 courses a year with international trainers and instructors, and 36 studies programs with full accreditation in English and Romanian.

International mobility for teaching and studying

The university is affiliated to the Erasmus+ mobility programme. Through the Erasmus+ Programme, the students, academic and administrative staff of the Romanian-American University, as well as students and staff of partner Universities, can benefit from international mobility experiences, with the possibility of financial support. There are opportunities for international internships as well as a flexible and affordable path to an US degree via the Study in US programme with University of Arizona.

Very attractive is the Asian Studies Department, which offers classes, activities, mobility opportunities, networking with South Korea, Japan, China, Azerbaidjan.

Facilities

The university offers multiple study and teaching facilities: 2 campuses, 11-story hostel, sports facility, library and more.

 

 

RESEARCH

 

Fields of inquiry

The academic staff and researchers at the university carry their studies in Social Sciences (economics, finance, banking, management, marketing, business administration, computer science for business, political sciences), Law, Physical education and kinesiotherapy.

Research centres

There are 4 research centres in the university, whose mission is to carry scientific investigations, develop research projects and disseminate knowledge via publications and conferences. The scientific areas covered by the university centres are computer science for business, economics and finance, social sciences.

Publications

In total, the university published 1615 books and 7189 scientific papers in international peer-reviewed journals, of which 450 were ISI papers.

The university publishes 5 scientific journals indexed in international databases, and 2 scientific journals dedicated to students’ research.

 

​

Conferences

The university organized and co-organized scientific events with national and international universities, companies, organizations, with an average of 30 events a year.

 

​

Research projects and grants

In the last 10 years (2010-2020), the university attracted 49 research and development projects and grants, through national and international competitions. Among the funding bodies, there are the EU framework programmes for research and innovation (FP7, Horizon 2020), EU agencies (Erasmus+, INEA), national ministry for research, national agencies (UEFISCDI, structural funds), and companies.

Students’ research

Annually, there are two scientific conferences dedicated to students. They work on their research and present their findings at these conferences. Until now, there were 22302 students’ research papers presented at these events, with subjects covering all scientific fields of the university.
